Learn to Play Guitar Fast in 3 Easy Steps
Yes you can learn guitar quickly, I did and so can you - here's how!
The guitar is the ‘rebel’ instrument, the guitar is rock & roll pretty much and many of the
greats and influences I had when I managed to learn guitar quickly such as Jimi Hendrix and Angus Young of AC/DC are self taught and managed
to learn guitar quickly with very little tuition but by taking advantage of just how easy it can be to learn to play guitar fast with the
right methods I’m about to share with you now. Or - if you want to get stuck stright in right now why

When I started out I wanted to get straight to the stuff I was interested in and not have to mess around with music theory,
basic beginner stuff and all the time consuming and sometimes quite boring elements of learning a musical instrument (I am classically
trained in two other instuments).
What attracted me to the guitar was
that here was an instrument that just didn’t adhere to conventional musical styles – I mean yeah of course it can be played like most other
traditional instruments and learnt in a conventional way but there are things you can do with a guitar that you simply just cannot do with
other instruments.
Here in these 3 steps are how I managed to teach myself quickly and easily:
- Get good visual instruction – if you can’t get a teacher get some good videos.
Books are good when you’re up and running but at the beginning you have to be able to see how it’s done. I prefer videos because you
can watch them over and over and slow them down. Teachers are expensive and you want to make the most of the time you have which isn’t
being shown the same riff over and over again.
-
Play along to as much as you can. When I work out a
song I like I will listen to it then slide my way up the neck until I find the note that is the root key of the song – then if it
fits I’ll jam a bit of basic blues scale solo to it and work out the chords. This is how to become adaptable and just develop the
ability to jam along to anything. This is probably the most powerful tip to help you learn to play guitar fast.
-
When you’ve worked out the song you like – or got
the chords from some tab and know it play it on your own but with some kind of rhythm track that will help you keep time – when
you’re really confident have a go at playing and singing it if that’s your bag. Start with simple stuff and work from there, some
greatest songs ever written are only made up of 2-3 simple chords in total, do this until you are comfortable and really
enjoying it. The idea is to really get a feel for playing.
If you follow these 3 simple steps you will learn to play guitar fast and before you know it your fingers will be toughened up and
you can play for longer, you’ll have a repertoire of songs you can play fluently and you’ll be able to pick up your guitar and jam along to
just about anything.
