Yes You Can Teach Yourself to Play the Guitar – I Did and Here’s How…
Accelerated learning techniques for only the very serious players - it's actually
very easy when you know what to do...
It’s a fact that a lot of the best guitarists are self taught. Jimi Hendrix started out on a broom – turned it upside down,
formed his own completely unique play style and redefined the way the guitar is played pretty much from the ground up.
It’s that kind of instrument. If you’re like me you probably started out on the tennis racket and evolved from there. The
guitar is more than just a musical instrument – much more – it’s a way of life, and a pretty cool one at that.
Whether you can teach yourself how to play guitar or not is all down to method and commitment. Like anything that’s worth
having in life there is blood, sweat and sometimes tears, if you’re prepared to weather the storms then you can look forward to immensely
rewarding results.
So just how do you teach yourself to play the guitar?
When I taught myself to play there was no Internet – or even accessible computers, all I had was the bits and pieces of theory
I was shown by other guitarists and playing along to tapes and the radio – that’s it.
Playing along to music you like teaches you rhythm, helps you develop your own personal style and nurtures improvisational
skills right from the very beginning. And it’s the ability to improvise that will make you each yourself to play the guitar.
What are you waiting for?!
So you’ve got your guitar, you’ve been shown a couple of chords and basic scales – you’re all set to start your journey to
owning the stage, or maybe just being the person at a party who picks up the guitar and starts strumming along while everyone asks you “ooh
ooh can you play this – please I love that song!!”.
It’s a great feeling.
